Nov. 2017 Update

For those of you who have purchased Bio-Trap Fruit Fly Traps it is time to get them refilled if you haven’t done so in the last couple of weeks.

Small numbers of fruit fly were detected in our area during September, but we have not had any detected by DPI Vic since 1st September 2017, which is positive news.

Even if you don’t have any fruit trees on your property the Greater Sunraysia Pest Free Area Committee urges you to hang a trap in a non-fruit bearing tree to help the fight against fruit fly.

Traps and refills are still available at the BKIT office for ratepayers as well as any other locals wanting to fight the fruit fly.  Traps are only $7.00 each and refills are $2.20, each refill will remain effective for 3 months.

The BKIT office is open on Tuesday and Wednesday for those wanting to purchase traps or refills.

We urge everyone to be involved in managing fruit fly so that we can all have the opportunity to grow our own fruit and veggies without significant fruit fly damage.
