Prune trees now!

A spring approaches, it is the best time to prune your fruit trees to help protect them from Qfly attack. Pruning a tree can assist with management as you can prune to a height that you can put an insect net over your tree to exclude Qflies (and birds!). Keep your trees to a height that you can reach all fruit. If a tree is too tall, you will not be able to pick the fruit, but Qflies can reach it and infest the fruit.

Stripping all fruit from your trees is another important part of managing trees to avoid infesting later crops.
